Brave New Girls

I am so excited to share with my readers about this collection of Sci-Fi tales for young adults in the anthology Brave New Girls: Tales of Girls and Gadgets. First off, I love getting to discover so many authors new to me. It’s like a buffet of science fiction!

Secondly, all proceeds will be donated quarterly to a scholarship fund for girls through the Society of Women Engineers. It doesn’t get any better than that. We do see some cool female characters at the movies and on TV that are brave and smart. Abby on NCIS comes to mind, along with Mac from Veronica Mars (and Veronica herself), and Five from the new show Dark Matter. They all utilize science and technology in their pursuits. If your daughters and other loved ones enjoy those characters, they will love this anthology.

There are stories by the following authors: Martin Berman-Gorvine, Paige Daniels, George Ebey, Mary Fan, Kimberly G. Giarratano, Valerie Hunter, Evangeline Jennings, Stephen Kozeniewski, Jason Kucharik, Kate Lansing, Tash McAdam, Kate Moretti, Ursula Osborne, Josh Pritchett, Aimie K. Runyan, Davien Thomas, Lisa Toohey, and Leandra Wallace.

I think one of my favorite stories was “Of Cat’s Whiskers and Klutzes” by Martin Berman-Gorvine. Kaitlyn is a Texas girl in a wheelchair on Mars. She’s trying to re-invent something she read about and her spirit comes through loud and clear.

I think adults that like Sci-fi would enjoy these stories too, and it would give you something to share and talk about with your young adult in the family.
