Covers and book titles are the first impression we have about what is contained inside a work. They are full of promise of what information, what type of adventure, or emotional journey is inside. Readers of non-fiction are usually looking to solve a problem. They are anxious and may be a little quick on the draw of jumping to conclusions- inferring the title promises their solution inside.

Book Launch Marketing CoverI admit, I fell into this category a bit. I saw “Book Launch” in big letters at the top. I hoped to find what steps I should take, what order, how much time I should allow for these steps. Do you book a tour before you have the cover art? When is the best time to use your free Kindle days if you are in that program, how far in advance do you email folks for reviews, etc. were the questions I hoped this book would answer.

But Book Launch wasn’t the whole title. “Marketing” is underneath the yellow box. The subtitle to the book “35 Easy Ways to Promote Your Book, Increase Sales, and become a Bestselling Self-Published Author” is the rest of the information given to what the content of this book holds. Click on the Table of Contents for a better understanding of the material and information. Here are the broadest listings, the chapter titles in each section will give you a further clue to the contents also.

Part One: Introduction to Marketing, Part Two: Prepare Your Book for Publishing, Part Three: Establish Your Brand, Part Four: Pre-Publish Marketing, Part Five: Launch Your Book, Part Six: Post-Launch Marketing, and finally Part Seven: Wrap Up indicate that the launch itself is not a majority of the book.

So, I didn’t get the actual steps to a book launch here. But there is a great deal of helpful information contained in this book. I have to say that, for me, I found the bonus material workbook to be the BEST part of this work. It asked prompting questions so that you could customize and determine better how this information applied to your personal book, your brand, and your audience.

If you have already been researching this topic for a year and have read more than 10 self-publishing books you might feel this work didn’t have enough nuts and bolts specifics for your taste. I would say that with the easy writing style and the emphasis of putting out a good product, this is an excellent overview book for the writers that are dipping their toe into the self-publishing arena.
