Interview: S. Cu’ Anam Policar

What’s your favorite rainy day movie?
I’m not big on watching movies. I watch them whenever I actually have time to, but it’s not often. It may sound silly, but my favorite movies of all time are Bill and Ted’s Awesome Adventure and Bill and Ted’s Bogus Journey lol. I know, I know but I could watch those two over and over again with no problem.

Author PhotoA genie grants you three writing-related wishes: what are they and why?
To be on the best-seller list at least once. (I think that’s every author’s dream though lol), to live long enough to complete the entire saga, and to meet whoever it is that made the wish for my stories to be written so I can thank them.

Why do you think you are drawn to the genre you write?
I have no idea. Honestly the Saga has been with me since I was seven years old, I’m not sure I can write anything else let alone a different genre. I like it though cause Fantasy and Paranormal opens so many possibilities of what can and can’t be done. There’s pretty no much not limitations to the things you can have a character do, so it leaves very little room for boredom.

Do you read other genres?
Absolutely! I love Dystopians the best. But I read pretty much anything handed to me, except poetry I can’t do it I don’t know why lol.

What authors do you enjoy reading? Why?
This question kills me. I honestly have entirely too many favorite Indie Authors so I’ll give you my little list of Famous Authors… R. A. Salvatore, Stephen King, Anne Rice, Ayn Rand (Alternate History/Philosophy), Richard Adams (talking animals nuff said), Peter S. Beagle, George Orwell, Orson Wells, Shakespeare, Charles Dickens and wow sooo many others. I love the classics really. All these authors write different things and I love them all, they’re literary genius and I can only hope that one day one of my books impacts the world as much as some of these authors’ works have.

Legends of Xosha (The Legend Begins Book 1)

Do you get writer’s block, if so, how to you overcome it?
I usually just start on another story. If that doesn’t help me break down the wall, some Role Play will.

What goals do you have for the next year?
Well book wise, I have a few ideas for LGBT themed books (Sebastian’s Thorne and Dark Wood Fae). Since I’m Bi, I want to give back to my rainbow so all my royalties off those titles will be donated to different LGBT charities, especially ones aimed at the younger generation that find themselves scared and alone because their families throw them out. Outside of that, I’m hoping to get into a few Pagan classes to broaden my knowledge on my craft.

What do you wish you had known a year ago?
How hard it is to be a publisher… and to be more cautious when it comes to people and my brain child (Wolf Paw Publications) since jealousy knows no bounds.

How do you divide your writing time between research, writing, proofing, editing, marketing, etc?
Very very carefully! Research is simple.. I do my best not to write about things that I only have limited knowledge in. Though with my wide array of friends, researching something new wouldn’t be that difficult. Writing is the challenge. I only have time for that twice a week so I try to make the best of that time. Since I run Wolf Paw Publications, I don’t have much time for other things online, thankfully I have an AMAZING PA that runs my Street Team so I can focus on marketing the other WPP authors. My editors are amazing and I trust their judgment when it comes to my books. The hardest part is doing all of this for the company and still having time for my children. I have two of them and only one is in school so I have to balance that too. It’s not easy, but being able to be home to handle it all makes it a lot easier.
